Categories: Freedom of Speech, Homosexual Rights.

For what seems like a lifetime, the issue of homosexual marriage or rights has been debated and voted on, those votes being overturned in some court by a judge—and around and around we go. What I do not understand is how so many people do not see the bigger picture. It is about true freedom of speech and if we are not careful, the loss, at least in part, of those rights. It seems that the phrase freedom of speech is used and misused on just about everything. But what does freedom of speech have to do with homosexual marriage? The answer is everything! The homosexual activists are completely devoted to silencing anybody who feels differently about what they believe. They will, and have, used everything from intimidation, threats, and/or harassment to silence those who do not agree with what they are trying to do. They also now have a legion of lawyers, lobbyists, and corporate backing like Ford Automotive and a host of others, all in the name of homosexual rights. I personally do not hate homosexuals. I do, however, hate what they are trying to do to free speech and equal representation in this country. I personally do not agree with their lifestyle. I believe it is wrong, just like I believe adultery or murder is wrong, as we are told in the Bible. Remember, all sin is equal in the eyes of God. As a citizen of the United States of America I am supposed to be granted, by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to express my views just as much as anybody else is. But according to some government officials, judges, entertainment personalities, and a hefty percent of the media, I do not have that right. I am suppose to let them do what they want, stay quiet, and out of their way. Christians are the main group of people that this mantra is aimed at. But it won’t stay that way if the homosexual agenda is fully realized. The agenda will extinguish the right for pastors to preach from their own pulpits what the Bible has to say about homosexuality, and open them up for prosecution for hate speech with heavy fines and prison sentences, as has already happened in Canada and Sweden. This legislation, which makes saying anything by anybody for any reason, and which casts homosexuality in a negative light hate speech is one of the greatest threats to freedom of speech this country has ever seen. Thankfully this legislation in its different guises and amendments to bills has so far been defeated here in America. This is only because of watch dog organizations like Focus on the Family letting the people of America know what our legislators are up to, and a president who believes in the Constitution and what it stands for. Unfortunately, it will come back up in some form after the next president is elected. With the current candidates being all in the leftist humanist branch, and yes, i also mean senator McCain, it is not looking too good. So what should we do? For one thing, as Christians, we should take a strong hint from the Bible. The Apostle Paul put down the worldly weapons of coalitions, etc. and picked up the weapons that God has given the Church. First, examine ourselves and our motives daily to see if they match up to what Christ would have us do from scripture. Secondly, pray, pray, pray. Pray for our leaders whether you like them or not. As Americans, call your elected representatives and let them know how you feel about bills that are coming up for vote. When they do the right thing and take a stand for what is right and receive all the heat and pressure for doing that, call and let them know how much you appreciate the job they are doing. All it takes is one moment to lose rights that we have received at great cost of life for generations. Even though the homosexual agenda is just one of several issues facing our country, freedom of speech is a basic right within our society. Take that away for any reason and the rest of our rights wil fall one by one after that. I believe, as do others, that the next few years are probably going to be the most critcal years for our country concerning our rights as penned by our founding fathers.
